Workplace Hazard and Risk Assessments

Have you noticed that productivity at your workplace is being affected by recurring health and safety issues?

Are you facing an upcoming health and safety audit and are anxious that you are not prepared?

Are you having difficulty closing off outstanding health and safety items identified during a previous audit?

Whether you are in the initial stages of developing and implementing an appropriate Risk Management framework for your organization or just need help updating it, Sterling EHS Consulting can objectively perform a competent and thorough analysis of issues or concerns and provide you with cost effective recommendations and any needed awareness training.

According to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), in Canada it is estimated that 1 out of 16 workers suffers an injury while at work every year. More than 800,000 injuries are reported in Canada each year, of which more than 750 are fatal. Over half of the injuries result in lost work time.

All workers and organizations face risks on a regular basis. The key is to identify those risks that have the highest priority for abatement or control, and then identify and select control measures that are both pro-active and easily applicable.

The professionals at Sterling EHS Consulting follow a systematic risk management process that includes:

  • risk identification - through a careful inspection of your operations, a detailed review of current programs and policies and careful observation of how your employees perform their assigned duties;
  • risk evaluation and analysis - using scientific and analytical methods to quantify the amount of risk pertaining to a given hazard, also taking into account the non-scientific aspects of the risk problem such as economic, social and legal factors;
  • risk control - identifying and recommending possible risk control options, and their appropriate means of implementation, and
  • monitoring and evaluation - after the control option is implemented, performing an evaluation of the effectiveness of the control measures selected.

Sterling EHS Consulting can make this process efficient and stress free!
